How do I apply?
Our application process happens online. First you'll need to register on our careers page which will create an account. This will provide you with a username and password that you will need to use every time you login to the site.
Once you have completed your personal details you then need to go to current vacancies to find the vacancy you are interested in, then click ‘Apply Now’ and this will take you through the application process.

What shall I wear to my interview?
We would always recommend that you dress smartly for your interview, however don’t feel you have to wear a suit if you are not comfortable doing so.

What is an assessment centre?
We tend to use assessment centres if we are recruiting more than one person into a role, typically our customer service advisor roles. Assessment centre sessions typically last for 3-4 hours and include a range of group and individual exercises.
They are a good opportunity for you to show your potential in a variety of work based scenarios – and equally provide an opportunity to find out lots more about us and the role.

Where are you based?
We have offices all over the world from South Africa to Dubai depending on which business unit the role you are applying for is in. See the Our offices page for more information. Our head office is in the City of London, Giltspur House, 5-6 Giltspur Street, EC1A 9DE, where City & Guilds staff are based as well as many Kineo and ILM staff.

How can I prepare for my interview?
Make sure you have a good look through the role profile for the role and think of examples from your work or personal experience where you have demonstrated the competencies, skills and experience we are looking for. Also have a good look through this website to understand the sort of work we do and how the position you are interviewing for might fit in.

What if I don’t have a passport?

Where is my interview?
If you are invited to interview you will receive an email asking you to log in to the careers site to book a slot. The interview slots will state where the interview is taking place. Our offices page also includes a route planner to help plan your journey.

Do you pay interview travel expenses?
Unfortunately we are not able to contribute to candidates’ travel expenses so please bear this in mind prior to booking your interview.

I didn’t get shortlisted, can I get feedback?
We are unfortunately unable to give individual feedback to applicants not invited to interview due to the large amount of applications we receive across a wide range of vacancies.

I can't upload my CV. What’s wrong?
Make sure your CV is in one of the following formats: txt, rtf, doc or docx. Because of the way the software creates your application form we are unfortunately not able to accept documents in PDF format, but our system will convert your CV into a PDF when you upload it. If using a desktop or laptop, also try using Google Chrome – this is the best browser for the system.
If your CV is in one of the accepted file formats listed above but you are still having problems then please contact the recruitment team on careers@cityandguilds.com.

What does home based mean?
Simply put it means your home location will be your office as opposed to being based in one of the City & Guilds offices. Where this arrangement is in place, we will provide the standard equipment and materials necessary to carry out your role e.g. stationery, IT equipment and any office furniture. You will also be reimbursed for reasonable costs of necessary travel on City & Guilds business from your home location.

When will I hear the outcome of my application?
We aim to inform all candidates of the outcome of their application within a week of the closing date. However, there are occasions where the volume of applications means the shortlisting process can take longer than expected. So you may have to bear with us.

I have been shortlisted for an interview but am unable to attend any of the slots, what do I need to do?
Please contact the recruitment team on careers@cityandguilds.com and specify any dates which you can do and we will try to accommodate changes however we will advise if for some reason the interviews can only take place on that date.
