QUALIFICATIONS

Can I be working towards an IQA qualification and apply?
An IQA qualification may be required but this depends on the role type and location.
The IQA is an essential requirement for an External Quality Assurer (EQA), however you can be working towards an IQA qualification for an Independent End- Point Assessor (IEPA) role. For international EQA roles, TAQA qualification is required for UK Regulated Qualifications. We have several Associate roles where an Assessor Qualification is desirable only.

Where can I gain an Assessor or/and an Internal Quality Assurer qualification?
City & Guilds does not offer the TAQA IQA qualification but if you need to complete an assessor qualification or IQA, this TAQA video will help you locate a centre, who will be able to support you with this qualification/training.

APPLICATION PROCESS

How long does it take to hear back after submitting my application?
Most of our roles have a closing date and you should expect to hear within 2-3 weeks of the closing date.

Can my application be kept open for the Autumn/ Summer series?
If you are contracted for the Summer series, your application will automatically be held for the Autumn series unless you leave or are de-contracted. If your application has been on hold for the Summer series, it will be considered for the following series.

Will I be invited to an interview for these roles, when/ where will they take place?
The dates are likely to be mentioned in the job advert. Most of the interviews are done remotely although it would largely be dependent on the role. Interviews are conducted via MS Teams/ Zoom.

When will I receive my contract after returning my vendor form?
If you have provided the relevant information, then the turnaround time is usually 2 weeks. If it is at a peak period, then the time may be longer.

TRAINING

When is training likely to be?
The approximate dates/ months will be mentioned in the job advert. The dates are confirmed depending on the number of application and the recruitment need at the time.

What happens if I cannot attend training?
If you let us know you cannot attend training, your application will be put on hold and considered for the next training event, but as the recruitment is done on demand, there is no guarantee when the next training is likely to be. If 12 months have passed, you may be asked for additional information such as CPD/ or to re-apply.

I've completed onboarding and I'm about to do my Mandatory Training, but I'm locked out of my account.
On completion of Onboarding, you will be sent the necessary directions and support for Mandatory Training only when you are contracted, following an email with your account set up details.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

What is a CPD Log? Do I need one, and how do I create one?
A template is given on our website under each role type that you can fill and link to your application. It is important that when completing your CPD Log, that you include industry/ standard specific CPD, that shows you have maintained currency in the industry, and met the specific requirements set out. General CPD is good, however, there must be a real focus towards recent vocational and industry- specific CPD, to support your application.

I'm retired, do I still need to fill in a CPD log?
Yes, you will have to share your CPD to demonstrate currency of knowldge, skills and experience within your industry area. Please refer to the Person Specification of each role for specific CPD requirements for the role.

TECHNICAL ISSUES

The 'password reset' function is not working, can you help me reset my password?
If you have not received a password reset mail, then it is possible you have not set up an account or have used a different email address to log in. After setting up an account, please use the correct email to request a new password by using the 'Reset your password' link.

RIGHT TO WORK

What is required for the Right to Work in the UK check?

My passport will expire soon, will I have to re-take the Right to Work (RTW) checks?
A RTW check only needs to be completed once by City & Guilds at the time of contracting.
It depends how recently the RTW was done and if it was done by us or a different company. The easiest method is using a current passport, however, a face- to- face manual option is available as an option.

CURRENT ASSOCIATES

I'm already contracted as an Associate, can I apply for other roles?
Yes, you can apply for other roles. However, as part of the vetting process, we do need to check for any conflicts of interest ( COI). Pleasew refer to the Conflict of Interest policy on the Associate Resource Hub before applying. It is also important to consider your availability and so ability to carry out mulitple roles.

I am already contracted with City & Guilds - do I have to apply again for other roles or can you use the information on your system?
Yes, you will have to apply for other roles, as they would have different requirements. However, previous information you'd provided will be auto-populated.

How much travel is required for an Associate role?
The travel required is dependent on the role and its requiremtns and will be specified in the job advert.

I'm currently appointed as an Associate, but plan on moving abroad. Can I remain on contract, and work remotely?
Our Associate roles are based in the UK and all contracted Associates need to be UK based. We ahve a mix of remote and face to face roles. Working as a City & Guilds contracted Associate working overseas must be once agreed by your Associate Manager to ensure we meet legal requirements.
