At City & Guilds your health and wellbeing is very important to us. We understand that the success of our organisation requires our staff to be both physically and mentally healthy. However, we all have times in our lives when we or our families may become unwell. So we ffer some excellent employee benefits and services to support our staff though these times.

Private medical insurance
We’ll pay for your private medical insurance from day one. However, you can also pay to increase your level of cover or cover your partner or family.

Dental insurance
This benefit takes the worry out of dental care, as you and your family can claim money back on a wide range of private and NHS dental treatments. With different levels of insurance available you can choose to pay for the cover that suits you the best.

Health assessments
This benefit entitles you to a health assessment by qualified professionals which can be taken at any stage throughout the calendar year (January to December). You can choose the type and level of assessment that is best for you.

Eye tests
Your eyesight is precious. So, to help you look after your health, we’ll give you a voucher for a free eye test at one of our preferred partners. The voucher also entitles you to a free pair of VDU glasses if they are prescribed.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
If you ever need to talk to someone about a problem at home or work – our EAP provides support when it matters. Through a 24/7 helpline you can get confidential and professional advice on a wide range of wellbeing, financial, legal, personal and work related issues.

Life assurance
It’s always best to be prepared for the unexpected. So, we provide all of our employees with Life Assurance Cover as soon as they join. If you die whilst in our employment, your family, dependants or nominated beneficiary would receive a one off tax-free payment of up to six times your basic annual salary. This cover can be increased to a maximum of 10 times your salary or reduced to two times your salary - depending on your personal circumstances.

Critical illness insurance
This voluntary benefit pays out a cash lump sum if you’re diagnosed with a critical illness. You can select the level of cover that suits you and also choose to cover your partner.

We provide full support to enable all our staff to perform their roles in a variety of ways such as wheelchair-accessible buildings, flexible working and adjustable workstations.
