Moderators & TQA
Moderators play a key role in the moderation of Technical qualifications for14-19 year olds and T- Level qualifications for 16-19 year olds, that were designed with employers and providers to deliver the most up-to-date relevant technical skills. Technical Qualification Associates (TQAs) have the relevant occupational and quality assurance experience to carry out provider and. or qualification approval of the T Level Technical Qualifications (TQs) offered by City & Guilds, as well as providing ongoing support with the TQ delivery.
As a Moderator you will:
- Conduct and document moderation, quality assurance and advisory activities with Centres and Providers, in line with quality assurance guidelines for Technical and T-Level Qualifications.
- Provide advice and guidance to Centres and Providers: on moderation and marking of the internally assessed and externally moderated / validated assessments
- Produce City & Guilds reports and feedback on: quality of marking / assessment, collection of evidence, issues identified through the moderation process, best practice
- Participate in training and standardisation activities to ensure continued improvement and consistent performance as a Moderator
As a Technical Qualification Associate (TQA) you will:
- Review evidence and support Providers with approval applications.
- Carry out Provider approval visits between February and August.
- Follow up on action plan activities between July and October.
- Carry out advisory activities between October and December
- Produce City & guilds and Provider reports and feedback for each type of activity.

The role of a Moderator is to conduct and document moderation activities with centres/ Providers, carrying out centre visits and providing advice and guidance to centres/ Providers on the moderation and marking of the internally assessed externally moderated assessments, inline with the Principal or Lead Moderator for the qualification. Lead Moderator roles
The role of a Lead Moderator for Technical and T- Level Qualifications is to support, standardise and quality assure a team of Moderators, sampling Moderator activity and providing feedback. You will document Moderator risk, sampling activities, outcomes and SMART action planning as appropriate, as well as contributing to the annual moderation review process. Alongside this, you will conduct and document moderation activities with centres/ Providers, carrying out centre visits and providing advice and guidance to centres/ Providers on the moderation and marking of the internally assessed externally moderated assessments.

Principal Moderator
The role of a Principal Moderator for Technical and T Level qualifications is to be responsible for the overall standard of an assessment, participating in the production of assessment materials, working in collaboration with the Chief Examiner and attend and participate in Assessment Material Evaluation Committee (AMEC) meetings as required. Alongside this, you will sample Lead/ Moderator activity, documenting Lead/ Moderator risk, outcomes and SMART action planning as appropriate. You will also support the Associate Management team with the recruitment, selection, training and CPD monitoring of Moderators.

Lead Technical Qualification Associate ( Lead TQA)
The role of a Lead TQA is to support, standardise and quality assure a team of TQAs, through monitoring and supporting TQAs in line with their task profiles, maintaining contact and providing feedback. You will implement sampling plans in line with the sampling strategy, recording sampling on sampling records and will standardise TQA practice to ensure that assessment practices, policies and procedures are adhered to inline with City & Guilds and regulatory arrangements. Alongside this, you will support the Associate Management team with the recruitment, selection and training of new TQAs and will develop and present content for TQA training, standardisation and updates.
